Stop 12: Fergus Falls
It probably doesn’t count as a real “stop” considering that I never actually stopped the car….but I was driving slowly enough to take a look at the older buildings and snap some photos.
Fergus Falls State Hospital was the third state hospital opened in Minnesota. Construction began in 1888.
There are actually two different tours of the site available: (1) the Otter Tail County Historical Society runs a story tour around the grounds (next tour takes place in the fall); and there are also tours run of the interiors of the buildings (but only on Fridays – darn!). Something for next time!
