Maps and plans

Last day at Massachusetts State Archives

Spent my last day at the Massachusetts State Archives on a total high point: checking out maps and architectural plans from the nineteenth century and turn of the twentieth century (WorcesterDanvers, and the McLean)! The plans were really cool: some were the old blue paper, others were done with watercolours – all were hand-drawn. The Archives has over 60,000 of these plans (which is 1/6th of their total collection) which I learned represents only the bundles themselves – the map bundles can contain 100’s of additional pages.

This weekend I’m off to Albany – it’s back to the New York State Archives on Monday!
